Background

The City of Peoria was awarded a federally funded Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) project for fiscal year 2007 to provide a trail connection from New River to the Skunk Creek with underpasses located at S.R. Loop 101 and 83rd Avenue. Loris and Associates was hired in June 2006 to complete a Design Concept Report (DCR), which is the first step required by the State of Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) who is the agency responsible for administering and approving this project.

The project is compliant with the American's With Disabilities Act and the length of the connection is approximately 2/3 of a mile.  This trail connection completes a critical missing segment that ties the City of Peoria with Glendale, Phoenix, and Scottsdale trail systems.  The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2008.
