Police Support Assistant
GENERAL PURPOSE
Perform a wide variety of general clerical duties as
required throughout the Police Department; provide
assistance and information to Department staff and the
public.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receive general supervision from a Police Department
Supervisor. Exercise no supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are intended only as
illustrations of the various types of work that may be
performed. The omission of specific statements of duties
does not exclude them from the position if the work is
similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.
Types, records, redacts and files a wide variety of
police records, reports, and materials, including memos,
letters, reports, complaints, warrants, citations, and
crime and traffic reports
Assembles, codes, records, and summarizes a variety of
police record data, including serious crime offenses,
stolen vehicles, crime reports, booking sheets, and
field interrogation cards
Sorts, files, copies, and distributes crime reports,
traffic reports, citations, petitions, and other
materials to appropriate personnel
Tracks, monitors, maintains and initiates procurement
paperwork of employee assigned equipment to include
holsters, vests, belts, badges, etc.
Acts as coordinator for facility requests relating to
maintenance and upkeep
Assists Clerical Assistant and Department personnel
and the public in person and by phone, retrieves
information and files, mails out requested reports to
outside agencies in accordance with established
regulations, and provides general information regarding
department policies, procedures, and regulations
Operates a computer terminal and printer, enter,
modify, and retrieve a wide variety of police reports
and records, memos, letters and other material
Performs related duties, as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by clerical
course work. Two years of responsible clerical
experience. Type at a speed necessary for successful job
performance. Must satisfactorily complete the AZ
Criminal Justice Information Systems & the City of
Peorias Police background checks.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
An Associate's Degree is desired. Extensive knowledge of
office administration practices and procedures; correct
English usage, including spelling, grammar and
punctuation; procedures and techniques for dealing with
the public in a tactful but firm manner; modern office
practices, procedures, methods, and computer equipment;
basic record keeping procedures.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this class, employees are
regularly required to sit; talk or hear, in person and
by telephone; use hands to finger, handle, feel or
operate computers and other office equipment; and to
reach with hands or arms. Employees are required to
walk, kneel, stoop, climb and stand and lift up to 20
pounds of force occasionally, and the use of arm/or leg
controls that require exertion of forces greater than
that for sedentary work. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, use of both
eyes, ability to adjust focus and to distinguish basic
colors and/or shades.
Mental Demands
While performing the duties of this class, employees are
regularly required to use oral and written communication
skills; read and interpret data, information and
documents; analyze and solve problems; interact with the
general public, vendors, public agencies, employees and
others who may be encountered during the course of work

Employees work under typical office conditions, and the
noise level is usually quiet. Employees in certain
