OUR ROADS Signal
Update at El Mirage and Vistancia Blvd
Sunbelt Holdings is
currently working on the engineering design of a traffic
signal at the intersection of El Mirage and Vistancia
Blvd. A temporary signal will be installed by the City of
Peoria as an interim measure until the permanent structure
in place.
Median
Improvements for Happy Valley, between Best Buy and Target
There have been concerns
regarding traffic movements between these two shopping
centers. The City of Peoria has directed the
retailers on the north and south sides of Happy Valley
Road to improve the safety standards between their two
centers. The new plan will call for additional
median construction and turn restrictions.
Construction is set for completion in mid-June. Left turns (westbound on
Happy Valley) out of Target will be permitted; a refuge
area will be built into the new median. The Best Buy
Center will have right in/right out only turns onto Happy
Valley.

Beardsley Road Extension
Project
The Beardsley Road
Extension
project will provide additional access to the Loop 101 from the
northern portion of the City of Peoria and the northwest valley.
This will be accomplished by extending Beardsley Road from 81st
Avenue across the New River via a bridge to a one-way frontage
road, which starts at the 75th Avenue traffic interchange and
terminates at the Union Hills Drive interchange. A bridge over
Loop 101 north of Union Hills Drive will allow frontage road
traffic to access the northbound lanes of Loop 101 without
having to go through the signalized interchange at Union Hills
Drive. To view the interactive map, log on
here.
83rd Avenue
Construction-Drainage Improvements
Overview
The purpose
of the 83rd Avenue drainage project is to capture drainage in
the area north of Pinnacle Peak Road between 83rd and 91st
Avenues and convey it to the existing drainage infrastructure at
Deer Valley Estates and from there to the New River.
Improvements have included construction of detention basins, new
storm drains, storm water collection and distribution via a
system of pipes at a controlled rate. This project will mitigate
storm water flooding in the area.
