Construction has begun on the sound wall on Lake Pleasant Parkway north of Williams Road.  The southbound lane will be restricted until May 30; for more information and contact numbers, click here.

Intersection Improvements for Lake Pleasant Parkway and Happy Valley
Changes will be made this summer to the intersection for northbound to westbound traffic from Lake Pleasant to Happy Valley.  Currently there is one left turn lane; with the new changes an additional turn lane will be added.  This will require restriping and new signal heads and modifications will be coordinated with the development on the northeast corner.  The schedule has not been determined but estimates are for late June/July.

IN OUR CITY

New Hiking Trails Website Unveiled
Visit the new website, complete with maps, directions, a slide show, parking information, and difficulty level. Take some time this weekend to enjoy the trails at Sunrise, West Wing and East Wing mountains!

When in West Wing, please remember:

  • Park in the lot at West Wing Elementary School
  • Begin your hike next to the Community Center for the Sunrise Mountain trail and at the       intersection of Higuera Drive and High Desert Drive for the West Wing Mountain trail.
  • Be a good neighbor- respect the privacy of residents who live along the mountain and own property near the trails.

If we all practice the Golden Rule, hikers may take pleasure in the trails and residents can continue to enjoy their peaceful views! Thank you for your cooperation.  To view the new website, click here.

New Fire Station Receives Two Design Awards
Fire Chief Magazine honored Station 7, located at 7758 W Jomax Road, in their November 2007 issue with a Gold Award for station design and featured us on their cover!  Additionally, Fire Industry Equipment and Research Organization (FIERO) honored Peoria Fire Station 7 with a top merit award for design. Each station portfolio was judged on form, function, location, and resources available to meet the needs and unique challenges facing fire departments and their communities.

The fire station opened for service to the citizens of Peoria on August 18, 2007, and was dedicated by the Mayor and Council on October 12, 2007. Peoria Fire Station 7 was positioned in northern Peoria to lower emergency response times in that area.
