Construction Updates:
67th Avenue & Happy Valley Road
Although
the City of Peoria completed the pavement widening along 67th Avenue,
northbound traffic has continued to bottleneck due to a small patch of
City of Phoenix roadway north of the intersection.
Relief is coming soon! The City of Phoenix has confirmed a construction
schedule for the neighborhood grocery store planned for the parcel north
of the pharmacy. The developer will complete the roadway during the
course of their construction.
The project will begin in April with a completion date of November or
December 2007.
Lake Pleasant Parkway
You might
have noticed some dirt being moved in the desert west of 95th Avenue and
south of Deer Valley. Yes, the construction to complete Lake Pleasant
Parkway has begun. The project will take about 12 months with a
completion date of January 2008. Once completed, there will be two
northbound and two southbound lanes between 95th Avenue and Williams
Road. The completed Parkway will include bike lanes and median
landscaping.
Library
The construction of Lake Pleasant Parkway is the trigger for building
the city's new branch library. The $8 million library will be
located on 98th Avenue and Lake Pleasant Parkway. Following
completion of the library in January 2008, a park and an elementary
school will be built on property adjacent to the library. These
complimentary uses will serve to enhance the quality of life for all of
us in the Mesquite District.

Spring Training - It's the buzz around
town. The 2007 Spring Training season began March 1st and
continues through
to March 30th. The Peoria Sports Complex is a great venue to see the
two professional teams that call Peoria their home during Spring
Training Session; the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners. To
