September 25, 2006


A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Peoria, Arizona 
was convened at 8401 W. Monroe Street, City Hall, Acacia Room, in 
open and public session at 5:00 p.m.

Members Present:  Mayor John Keegan; Vice Mayor Vicki Hunt; 
Councilmembers Cathy Carlat, Patricia Dennis, and Carlo Leone

Members Absent:  Councilmembers Joan Evans and Patrick Hickson

Other Municipal Officials Present:  Steve Burg, Chief Assistant City 
Attorney; Mary Jo Kief, City Clerk; and Constance Copeland.

Audience:  One.

AGENDA

1R  Canvass of September 12, 2006 Primary Election

RESOLUTION NO. 06-140

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF 
THE CITY OF PEORIA, MARICOPA COUNTY, 
ARIZONA, DECLARING AND ADOPTING THE 
RESULTS OF THE REGULAR PRIMARY ELECTION 
HELD ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2006; AND ORDERING 
THE RECORDING OF SUCH RESOLUTION AND 
CERTIFICATE.

Mary Jo Kief, City Clerk, explained that Council had received a draft 
copy of the Canvass on Friday, September 22, 2006.  The adoption of 
Resolution 06-140 would approve the final results of the Primary 
Election held on September 12, 2006.

Ms. Kief reported that Peoria’s voter turnout was 25.35 percent which 
was higher than a comparable city and the overall turnout for the 
Statewide Primary Election.  

Councilmember Leone noted that the voter turnout in his district was 
the highest since 1999.

Mayor Keegan noted that there were no other comments or questions.

Motion was made by Vice Mayor Hunt, seconded by Councilmember 
Leone, to adopt RES. 06-140 accepting and approving the official 
canvass of election for the September 12, 2006 City of Peoria Primary 
Election.  


The motion carried unanimously by a roll call vote with the following 
results of the members voting:

Councilmember Leone – yes
Councilmember Dennis – yes
Vice Mayor Hunt – yes
Councilmember Carlat – yes
Mayor Keegan – yes.

ADJOURNMENT:

	Being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting 
was duly adjourned at 5:03 p.m.
