Q. Where are the parks in the Mesquite District?
A. There are currently seven parks in the Mesquite District.
1. Alta Vista Park – 10631 W. Williams Rd.
2. Deer Village Park – 21217 N. 88th Lane
3. Fletcher Heights Park – 81835 W. Lone Cactus Drive
4. Fletcher Heights Park North – 7827 W. Hillcrest Blvd.
5. Parkridge Park – 9734 W. Beardsley Road
6. Sonoran Mountain Ranch Park – 7092 W. Miner Trail
7. Sunset Park - 29898 N. Sunset Point
8. Terramar Park – 73rd Avenue and Terramar Road

Of the eight parks, two have designated dog park areas, (Alta Vista and Parkridge). The Mesquite District also has one Regional Park, Lake Pleasant Regional Park. More information on parks is provided on the Community Services webpage.

Q. Where do I go to learn about recycling?

Q. Where can I learn more about major construction projects?

Q. Where can I sign up for the E*Newsletter?
A. Enter your email address on the Mesquite homepage or send an email to Mesquite@peoriaaz.gov.

Q. Where are the City Libraries located?
A. The Main Library is at the City Municipal Complex, 8463 W. Monroe Street. Hours of operation:
Monday – Thursday:  9 am – 8 pm
Friday – Saturday:   9 am – 6 pm
Sunday:  1 pm – 5 pm

Wireless Internet is now available at the Main and Branch Library.

A Branch Library is located at Sunrise Mountain High School at 21200 N. 83rd Avenue.
Hours of Operation:
Monday – Wednesday:   9 am – 8 pm
Thursday - Saturday:  9 am - 5 pm 
Sunday:  closed

The new library is scheduled to be built in 2008 at Lake Pleasant Parkway and 98th Avenue.

Obtain a library card allows you to access the Library Website and obtain access to a variety of services to include placing books on reserve, accessing databases and obtain complete text documents for research and a variety of other services.

Q. Where are the fire stations in Mesquite District?
A. Currently, the Mesquite District has three Fire Stations and an additional one is being proposed.
1. #195 – Pinnacle Peak Public Safety Fire Station – 23100 Lake Pleasant Road
2. #196 – Vistancia Fire Station – 28251 N. El Mirage Road
3. #199 – Lake Pleasant Fire Station – 40202 N. 87th Ave
4. #197 – Jomax Road between 75th Avenue and 83rd Avenue.

Q. What schools are in the Mesquite District?
A. Currently, the Mesquite District has seven elementary schools and two high schools.  The two unified school districts within the Mesquite District are Peoria (PUSD) and Deer Valley (DVUSD)

Elementary Schools:
1. Coyote Elementary School – 21180 N. 87th Ave.
2. Frontier Elementary School – 21268 N. 81st Ave.
3. Sunrise Mountain North Elementary School – 7877 W. Hillcrest Road
4. Terramar Elementary School – 7000 W. Happy Valley Road

Q. Starting block watch program?
A. Start organizing your neighbors by scheduling a Neighborhood Block Watch meeting. Contact the Community Services Section of the Police Department at (623) 773-7099 to schedule a presentation and obtain a brochure explaining the process in detail.

Q. When are City Council meetings held?
A. Regular city Council meetings are typically scheduled on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the City Council Chamber (8401 West Monroe Street). Council Study Sessions are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m., usually in the City Council Chambers.  (8401 West Monroe Street).

Q. How do I obtain Planning and Zoning regulations and guidelines and other documents?
A. The Planning Division of the Community Development Department has a series of procedures and process guides for the many types of planning and zoning processes. They include: General Plan Amendments, change of Zoning, Site Plan Review, Subdivision Review, Design Review, Final Landscape Review, and Sign Permit Review.

These process guides may be obtained online. Click here for the Planning Guides. The Planning Division also has a series of handout that highlight the various zoning districts and their development standards (height, setbacks, etc).

The Planning Division maintains all Planning documents for the City of Peoria. These include the Peoria Comprehensive Master Plan, The North Peoria Area Specific Plan, Lake Pleasant Heights Area Specific Plan, and the Peoria Zoning Ordinance, and The Peoria Subdivision Regulations. Many of these documents may be found online at Planning Guides.

Q. I have heard of the “Peoria Justice Court.” How many courts does Peoria have?
A. There are TWO different courts in Peoria. The Municipal Court at the City Hall Complex and a separate court, the Peoria Justice Court, has relocated to 1160 N. 19th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ (19th Ave/Peoria). The presiding judge of the Municipal Court is the Honorable George T. Anagnost. Municipal court cases include criminal misdemeanors, traffic citations, city code violations, and orders of protection and injunctions prohibiting harassment. The presiding justice of the peace at the Peoria Justice Court is the Honorable Lex Anderson. Justice Courts handle civil and contract disputes, small claims court, marriage licenses, orders of protection and injunctions prohibiting harassment, landlord/tenant matters, and both felony and misdemeanor criminal charges.

Q. What types of rebates does Peoria’s Utilities Department Offer?
A. Rebates are available to citizens who have a utilities account with the City of Peoria. The intent of the rebate program is to encourage a permanent reduction in the amount of water used inside and outside of the home by establishing financial incentives. Customers who assist the City’s water conservation efforts by installing specific water saving technologies may receive a credit on their utility bill. Q. Where is the City of Peoria’s Human Resources?
A. The Human Resources office is located at 8401 W. Monroe St., Room 110. Applications are accepted for open jobs only. A separate application is required for each job.

Q. Where do I apply for a City of Peoria business license?
A. City of Peoria Sales Tax and Licensing Section: 8401 W. Monroe Street, Peoria, AZ 85345, (623) 773-7160 press “0” when you hear the prompt.
