Annexation Facts from the City of Peoria
Why we decided to annex into the City of Peoria

"After the third house in our area in less than ten years burned to the ground, several of my neighbors and I mobilized to research annexation. We were, quite frankly, tired of paying for Rural Metro subscriptions, on the order of $500 per year, and not have any real coverage. The nearest Rural Metro fire station is located in Litchfield Park, some 20 miles away. The nearest sheriff’s substation is in Sun City. In an emergency, my neighbors and I were on our own.

Overall, those of us who no longer have to subscribe to Rural Metro experienced either no change or a net decrease in our annual homeowner’s costs. In addition, there has been no impact to our rural lifestyle, and we now have more reliable ambulance, police, and fire protection.”

Dave Eberhart, annexed into Peoria in July 2000
