The Utilities Department’s Water Conservation Education Program promotes water conservation as a lifestyle in the desert with numerous on-going efforts.

Free Water Conservation & Landscaping Classes AND Literature

The City of Peoria Utilities Department offers free classes, which meet in the evenings at the City Hall Complex. Free informational booklets and brochures are also available for citizens interested in learning more about water resources, low water use landscaping, and indoor water conservation. If you would like to register to attend a class or request a literature packet, visit www.conserve.peoriaaz.gov or call (623) 773-7286.

Rebate Program

The City of Peoria has established a financial incentive that encourages a permanent reduction in water used inside and outside of the home. Utilities customers, who install a hot water recirculator in their home or convert high water use landscaping to low water use landscaping (i.e. Xeriscape), may qualify for a credit on their utility bill.

To obtain more information or request a rebate application form, visit the City of Peoria Water Conservation website at
www.conserve.peoriaaz.gov or call (623) 773 - 7286. Once your account information is verified, an official application
will be sent to you by mail.

Hot Water in an Instant

Hot water recirculators provide instant hot water to your faucet, eliminating the need to run the water for several minutes before receiving hot water. The device results in less water wasted down the drain and less time wasted by you!

Xeriscape, Not “Zero-scape”

Xeriscape refers to seven horticultural principles, which if used properly, ensure that landscapes are water efficient, yet creative and colorful: good planning and design, low water use plants, practical turf areas, efficient irrigation, soil analysis, use of mulches, and appropriate maintenance. The incorporation of these principles will create an attractive, low maintenance, water-wise landscape that is much more than just rock and cacti. By converting your high water use landscape to Xeriscape, you can save up to 50% of your outdoor water use and reduce your water bill significantly!
