University of Peoria is the "umbrella" program for all of the city’s citizen orientation and familiarization programs, including Peoria Leadership Institute, and Police and Fire Citizen’s Academies.

Through the following programs, interested citizens are given the opportunity to learn and discuss the "how's and whys" of city government from the people who serve the community every day.

Peoria Leadership Institute offers an in-depth look at all operations of city government.
Class members learn more about the city’s governmental structure, its budget and finances, public works, utility, police and fire operations through interactive discussions with management staff.
