Job Opportunities - Junior
Lifeguards
If you are 13 or 14 years old and
have a desire to help the community, the City of Peoria
Aquatics Department invites you to enroll in our Junior
Lifeguard program.
The classes are designed for
youth interested in becoming lifeguards, and provides the
knowledge and skills needed to assist with Water Safety
Instructors and Lifeguards. The course also includes
certification in Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
The Junior Lifeguard program
helps participants build a foundation of knowledge,
attitudes and skills that they will need become responsible
young adults. Lessons are grouped into five main
areas: prevention, fitness, response, leadership and
professionalism.
Once the class is successfully
completed, participants must spend 50 hours of training
throughout the summer months.
Junior Lifeguards with positive
evaluations will be invited back the following season and
