Peoria to Host Arizona Sister Cities Conference

State Attorney General Terry Goddard and U.S. Rep. Harry Mitchell will be among the speakers as Peoria hosts the 2007 Arizona Sister Cities Conference April 27-28. Mitchell will join Peoria Mayor Bob Barrett in opening remarks at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, in the city’s Public Safety Administration Building, 8351 W. Cinnabar Ave. Goddard will keynote a luncheon the same day from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Goddard and Mitchell -- former mayors of Phoenix and Tempe, respectively – were involved in launching those cities’ sister city efforts. Conference workshops will focus on the economic impact of sister city programs and opportunities for exchanging personnel, as well as the “how tos” of creating and enriching sister city programs.
