Office Depot Recognizes Peoria for Green Purchasing

Office Depot has honored Peoria with a Green Customer Award for posting the largest one-year increase in green purchasing. The city has boosted the percentage of green products among the office supplies it purchases – from 14 percent to 70 percent – while at the same time cutting its total bill for office supplies by more than a third. Yalmaz Siddiqui, Office Depot’s director of environmental strategy, presented the award, which recognized Peoria for its high growth in green spending for 2009, proactive piloting of remanufactured toner cartridges and collaboration in switching to greener options.
