PEORIA, Ariz. (April 6,
2009) – As City Manager Carl Swenson forms his new organizational structure and
begins setting a new direction for economic development in Peoria, Economic
Development Director Steve Prokopek and the city have decided to part ways.
Prokopek, who managed
the city's Economic Development Department since September 2002, and Peoria City
Manager Carl Swenson mutually agreed that it was time to take the city’s
economic development program in a new direction.
"I really have enjoyed
working for Peoria and serving its residents, but after discussing the future
for the organization, Carl and I both agreed that it was time for some changes,"
said Prokopek, who will be leaving the city for new opportunities.
Swenson will present a
revised organizational structure that reflects restructuring of Peoria’s
economic development program as part of the upcoming budget process.
“Steve worked hard for
Peoria,” said Swenson, “and he leaves with our sincere best wishes for his
future professional endeavors.”
