PEORIA, Ariz. (Feb. 11, 2009) –
Peoria officials and consultants will be hosting a second workshop to gain
public input on the Peoria Sports Complex Area Urban Design Plan. It is
scheduled on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Pine Room. Attendees
will have the opportunity to review and comment on three concepts. The concepts
were developed from the public’s feedback and steering committee comments during
the first series of meetings.
The study will help identify
opportunities for a more pedestrian-friendly and sustainable mixed-use district.
It focuses on the area bounded by the Loop 101, Bell Road, south bank of Skunk
Creek, and the eastern city limits near 75th Avenue.
On the preceding night, the city and
a 27-member project advisory committee will meet for the second time to review
the concept alternatives. The committee includes Peoria residents, area business
and property owners, the Mariners and Padres sports teams, boards and commission
members, and others.
