Peoria will hold three
events for senior adults in mid-February:
• Valentine’s Day Party, Friday, Feb. 13, 9:30 a.m. to noon, Peoria Community
Center – The morning will include a “Caloric Cake Walk” and Valentine Bingo,
followed by the featured entertainment: Manuel Dorantes playing dance music.
Following the party, a special lunch will finish off with a strawberry shortcake
for dessert. Though the party is free, the suggested donation for lunch is $3;
call 623-979-3911 by Thursday, Feb. 12, to make a lunch reservation.
• Tai Chi, starting Feb. 17, Peoria Community Center – This class uses
stretching to reduce stress and gentle physical exercise to increase
flexibility, energy, coordination and balance. A morning class will be Tuesdays
and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., starting Feb. 17. An evening class will
be Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., starting Feb. 23. Registration for
one of the six-week courses is $30.
• Step Into Spring Senior Fun Walk, Feb. 18, 8:30 a.m. to noon, Peoria Sports
Complex – Check in begins at 8:30 a.m.; walk begins at 9 a.m., followed by a
wellness fair and lunch. Registration is $15, which includes an event T-shirt,
musical entertainment by organist Bobby Freeman, a fun bag and door prizes.
