City to Hold Public Meetings for Arts Master Plan Project
Feb. 10 and 11
2/4/2009
Peoria, Arizona, February 4, 2009 — The City of Peoria will be holding two
public meetings to have citizens review the findings and recommendations from
the city’s draft arts master plan. The first meeting will be held at the Peoria
City Council Chamber at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10. The second meeting will
be held in the Lecture Hall at Sunrise Mountain High School at 7 p.m. on
Wednesday, February 11, 2009.
At the two public meetings, citizens will view and a presentation of the
study’s findings and recommendations by Jerry Allen and Associates, the firm
hired by the City of Peoria in July to undertake the arts master plan project.
Citizens attending the meetings will be encouraged to provide their feedback and
input on the master plan’s recommendations. Following the public meetings, the
City Council will review the arts master plan at a study session on March 3; the
arts master plan is tentatively planned to be acted on by the City Council on
April 21.
The arts master plan project involved the firm conducting a comprehensive
evaluation of Peoria’s arts program and providing recommendations that will form
the basis of a public art master plan. The arts master plan will then provide
guidance and policy direction to the City Council and Peoria Arts Commission on
a variety of arts-related matters. A major part of the project consisted of
involving the general public in meetings, focus groups, and interviews. An
important component of the arts study was a citizen survey conducted by ASU.
