Fan Fest, Charity Game Mark Start of Spring Training

The Peoria Sports Complex again will host two events that traditionally mark the start of Spring Training, which this year runs from Wednesday, Feb. 25, through Thursday, April 2.

  • Saturday, Feb. 21 – Fan Fest includes live team practices and the return of the all-age interactive skills area. Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association will host a free youth clinic at 2 p.m., for the first 100 kids that show up. Admission, parking and activities are free.

  • Wednesday, Feb. 25 – Peoria’s two “home” teams, the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners, will face off at 1:05 p.m. in the Peoria Diamond Club’s annual charity game to benefit local youth programs.

Tickets for all 2009 Spring Training games are on sale at the sports complex box office, by phone at 800-677-1227 and on the Internet at www.tickets.com. Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, call the box office at 623-773-8720.
