City Celebrates Opening of Happy Valley Road Segment

Peoria will dedicate a new segment of Happy Valley Road at a celebration on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon. The new roadway extends west from Terramar Boulevard to 83rd Avenue. The celebration features a 10 a.m. dedication and ribbon cutting at the Terramar end of the segment, followed by an opportunity for members of the public to walk, bike or in-line skate the new roadway. People can park at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 67th Avenue and Happy Valley Road. The segment will open to traffic Sunday, Dec. 21. The remaining segment of Happy Valley Road, from 83rd Avenue west to Lake Pleasant Parkway, is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009.
