PEORIA, Ariz. (Nov.
5, 2008) -- Enjoy a free night at the ballpark on Thursday, Nov. 13, as
Peoria celebrates the first anniversary of curbside recycling in the city.
Join Tim & Willy at
6:40 p.m. for the premiere of the city’s new recycling video on the stadium
scoreboard before the baseball game between the Peoria Javelinas and the Peoria
Saguaros at the Peoria Sports Complex. The two radio personalities, who are
featured in the video, will perform the national anthem and the ceremonial first
pitch.
Visit
www.peoriaaz.gov/recycle to print out a coupon for free admission. At the
game, 500 individuals can trade in one non-recyclable plastic grocery bag for
a reusable cloth bag from Wal-Mart. There also will be contests for “Peoria
Recycles” hats and T-shirts.
Throughout the evening,
fans can review the recycling video and learn more about recycling at
information tables in the stadium concourse.
Each team in the Fall
League comprises top prospects from five major league teams. The Javelinas
feature players from the Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers,
New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays; Saguaros players are from the San Diego
Padres, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Mets and Washington
Nationals.
The city’s new
recycling video offers viewers a lighthearted look at the recycling process,
from curbside collection to the processing facility. For those who are unable to
attend the premiere, the city’s two Wal-Marts – on Lake Pleasant Parkway and
Peoria Avenue – will show the video through the weekend on televisions in their
home-electronics departments.
