Acacia District Recall Petitions Reviewed and Returned
All 19 Pages Found to be Invalid

PEORIA, Ariz. (Jan. 9, 2008) – Peoria City Clerk Mary Jo Kief has reviewed and returned recall petitions submitted for the Acacia Council District in accordance with statutory requirements.

All 19 pages of signatures were determined to be invalid because they did not meet the state law that requires the recall petition number be printed on both sides of each signature page. Additionally, several other violations of state statute and/or city code were evident in 13 of the 19 signature pages.

The recall process is governed by Arizona State Statues 19-121.01 and 19-208.01, and Chapter Eight of the Peoria City Code.

A copy of the Office of the City Clerk Certification of Review that detailed the results of the statutory review was provided to the recall group along with the petitions.
