Peoria Thinks Globally, Acts Locally to Publicize Recycling
Local Man Creates Logo for Bins, Publications
9/19/2007
Faced with the need for
a logo to represent its new curbside recycling program, Peoria was able to call
on one of its own. Nine-year resident Chris Davia of DaviaDesign created the
logo – a bold, sans-serif P incorporating an arrow similar to the three arrows
in the universal recycling logo. Davia’s work will be displayed on 49,000
recycling bins, as well as city publications. “It’s sort of funny to think that
after 25 years of designing logos, you can boast that your career is in the
gutter,” Davia says. He also designed Peoria’s 50th Anniversary logo in 2004, as
well as the city’s Annual Review and Water Report.
