Delay in Street Repaving Project
Faulty asphalt forces delays on 83rd Avenue resurfacing project.

Work on the asphalt replacement project on 83rd Avenue between Peoria Avenue and Thunderbird Road is temporarily delayed due to problems with the paving material.

Test results have indicated that some of the newly installed asphalt did not meet the city’s specifications, indicating a problem with the quality of the materials. The city has resolved this issue with the Contractor and the resurfacing has resumed.

The City expects the inside lanes will be completed by Friday, February 15, 2013. All paving work is anticipated to be completed by February 21, 2013 with all traffic control being removed upon completion of the striping operation by February 28, 2013.

The City recognizes the importance of keeping this project moving. Contractors will continue to push the project toward completion while ensuring that the end product meets City specifications. Contractor staff will work on Saturdays to complete this project as early as possible.
