on Saturday, February 23. Tickets go on sale January 5 online and at the Peoria
Sports Complex Box Office.
General admission tickets cost $10. VIP tickets cost $25. Children under 12,
when accompanied by an adult, are free. Besides the concert featuring several
bands, there is a beer, wine and spirits garden, and an interactive zone for
adults and children including a zip line, a large "roller" ball and local
vendors. The Arizona SCITECH Festival will also be onsite to demonstrate STEM
(science, technology, engineering, and math) efforts taking place in the City of
Peoria. Participants will learn about the science behind making beer, music,
baseball and biomedical devices.
The P83 Street Party is a concert to highlight the entertainment district
surrounding the Peoria Sports Complex near 83rd Avenue and Bell Road in Peoria.
The stage and event activities occur on 83rd Avenue, closing the street between
West Mariners Way and Stadium Way across from the complex. Last year, Candlebox
was the headline group. More than 7,000 people attended.
Mark McGrath is an American singer of the rock band Sugar Ray. McGrath is also
known for his work as a co-host of the TV show Extra, and he was the host of
Don't Forget the Lyrics!
McGrath first appeared with his band, Sugar Ray (then known as the Shrinky Dinx),
in 1992. By 1997, the band's collaboration with reggae artist Super Cat resulted
in the song "Fly," which became a national hit. Later that year, and following
the success of their number-one hit, Sugar Ray released its second
album, "Floored," which went double platinum. Sugar Ray's success rocketed
McGrath to pop-star status, appearing on the magazine covers of "Rolling Stone"
and "Spin." "People" magazine included McGrath in their "Sexiest Man Alive"
issue twice. He was also named "Sexiest Rocker" in 1998 and "Sexiest Co-Host" in
2004.
After "Floored," Sugar Ray released "14:59," in reference to its fading "15
minutes of fame." Ironically, the CD wound up outselling its predecessor, going
triple-platinum with hit singles "Every Morning," "Someday" and "Falls Apart."
Their success continued with the release of the self-titled album, "Sugar Ray,"
which garnered the band it's first-ever top-10 album in 2005.
Following a short hiatus, the band regrouped to produce their sixth studio
album, "Music for Cougars" in 2009. For more information about the band and its
