Police Department Honors Community Partners
Peoria Police Chief will hand out a special award to Peoria organizations for their help in strengthening the departments' relationship with the community.

On Tuesday December 11th Peoria Police Chief Roy Minter will hand out a special honor to 10 Peoria organizations highlighting their help in strengthening the departments' relationship with the community.
The awards will be handed out as part of the monthly United Community Action Network (UCAN) meeting that brings together community leaders and the leadership of the police department. These face to face gatherings allow groups to talk about upcoming events, discuss community issues, and problem solve at a grass roots level.
The December meeting marks the end of the inaugural year of UCAN meetings and celebrates the success the group has created through partnerships. Chief Minter calls the group an important part of the department's community policing ideology and shows how partnerships can bring a community together with overwhelmingly positive results.
The media is invited to attend the meeting to learn more about this community partnership. Members being honored include; 3rd Place Neighborhood Grill, AARP, Christ’s Church of the Valley, Greater Phoenix Urban League, Habitat for Humanity, MADD, Peoria Chamber of Commerce, Peoria Unified School District, Target, and Team M'Phasis
