Citizen Input Sought for North Peoria Traffic Study
The city of Peoria is hosting a public meeting and open house from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Sunrise Mountain Library to gather community input on the North Peoria Traffic Study (NPTS).
11/6/2012
Several significant transportation projects were recently completed in the
area including Happy Valley Road, Lake Pleasant Parkway, and the Beardsley Road
connection to Loop 101. With the addition of these system improvements, the NPTS
will look at how traffic moves within the study area.
The purpose of the NPTS is to identify multimodal transportation needs within
the area of Union Hills Drive on the south, Westwing Parkway on the north, 67th
Avenue on the east, and 107th Avenue on the west. A larger regional area that
includes State Route Loop 303 to the north and west, SR 101 L to the south and
east, and Interstate 17 (I-17) to the east are considered in the study for their
regional travel influences.
The study will then look at future land use, socioeconomic, and traffic data to
identify needed improvements in the current transportation system. The final
report will include a recommended plan of short- and long-term transportation
improvements for the study area that will be included in the Citys Capital
Improvement Plan.
Residents living in these study areas are encouraged to attend the meeting or
submit comments.
