Feedback Sought on Dial-A-Ride Rates
City to Host Two Meetings to Gather Public Input

PEORIA, Ariz. (Oct. 25, 2012) City of Peoria
transit staff are inviting the public to come and provide input on the
Dial-A-Ride program at two meetings: Oct.30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the
Pinnacle Peak Public Safety facility, 23100 North Lake Pleasant Parkway; and on
Nov. 1 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Public Safety Administration Building,
Peoria Room, 8351 West Cinnabar Avenue.

The city is eligible for reimbursement from the federal government for each
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) trip at a rate of $30.72 per trip, up to a
maximum of $200,000 for the current fiscal year. Peoria's fare structure does
not require Dial-a-Ride passengers to become ADA-certified. The result is a
small percentage of passengers with such a designation, which in turn has a
negative impact in the city's ability to receive reimbursements for such
ridership.
As a means to encourage riders that are ADA-certifiable, city staff is proposing
to change the current rate structure. Such changes will be the topic of
discussion at the two meetings.
