City Hosts Special Event to Commemorate September 11

The city of Peoria will hold a special event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of September 11 on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the City Council Chamber. American Awareness Day - Remembering 9/11 event will begin with an honor guard and introduction by City Manager Carl Swenson. Guests will be encouraged to share their memories and experiences of Sept. 11, 2001. In addition, a guest speaker will discuss diversity in America, followed by the showing of a documentary on diversity in America and how our diverse culture was impacted by 9/11.
