Rio Vista Rec Center Hosts Oct. 21 Shredding Event

Gather up those old utility bills, credit card statements and other confidential paperwork that you no longer need and join Credit Union West for Community Shred Day Thursday, Oct. 21. In celebration of International Credit Union Day, Credit Union West has teamed up with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, the Better Business Bureau, Greenpath Inc. and Cintas Corp. to help individuals safely dispose of sensitive documents for free. (Limit five boxes per household.) Shredding will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rio Vista Recreation Center, 8866 W. Thunderbird Road in Rio Vista Community Park. Two free financial-fitness workshops also will be offered during the day:

  • Understanding Your Credit Report -- Noon to 1 p.m.

  • Protecting Your Identity -- 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
