Peoria City Clerk Announces Retirement
Mary Jo Waddell has announced she will retire Aug. 31

PEORIA, Ariz. (July 29, 2010) – Peoria City Clerk
Mary Jo Waddell has announced she will retire Aug. 31.
“I very much appreciate the professionalism,
dedication, and ‘can do’ spirit she brought to the job every day,” said City
Manager Carl Swenson. “Her knowledge and experience have served the city very
well.”
Waddell earned her Bachelor of Science degree in
applied management from Grand Canyon University and has worked for the Cochise
County Recorder’s Office and the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office before
coming to Peoria in 2004. She has been awarded the designation of Outstanding
Clerk by the Maricopa County Recorder in 2005 and the designation of Master
Municipal Clerk by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks in 2009.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the
mayor, City Council and the residents of the Peoria during my tenure as city
clerk,” Waddell said. "As well, I have enjoyed working with the incredible team
of city staff. This has truly been the most rewarding job during my 32 years of
government service."
