Free Classes Cover Low-Water-Use, Night-Blooming Gardens
3/23/2010
Peoria’s Water Conservation Division is offering two free classes with horticulturalist Kirti Mathura of the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. Mathura will present a lecture and walking tour of Peoria’s Desert Fusion Garden on Saturday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at City Hall. Participants will learn about the seven principles of low-water-use landscaping, or Xeriscape. On Thursday, April 1, she will discuss how to enrich a garden with magnificent night-bloomers that unfurl their hidden beauty as the sky darkens. That session will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Development and Community Services Building on the northeast corner of 85th Avenue and Mountain View Road. The sessions are free, but pre-registration is requested. For more information or to pre-register, call 623-773-7286 or visit
