Workshop Offers Tips for Landing College Scholarships

Peoria is offering a two-session workshop for students 16 or older and parents interested in college scholarships. “Finding Free Money for College: The Scholarship Search” will take place at Rio Vista Recreation Center from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on consecutive Saturdays, March 27 and April 3. Discover the secrets for obtaining scholarships and grants. Learn how to calculate college costs; how to find scholarships and granting organizations; how to qualify for a scholarship; when to start looking and applying; why one needs a ‘personal statement’; and more. Students will receive a take-home packet with handouts to help launch their scholarship searches. A parent may accompany each registered student.
