Peoria Councilmember Elected
Chair of Municipal Tax Code Commission
Councilmember Ken Forgia, of the
Mesquite District, was elected chair of the Municipal Tax Code Commission for
the coming year. Councilmember Forgia has served on the commission for three
consecutive three-year terms, and was elected to the chair (a one-year position)
by the board.
"I’m happy to continue my
service on the Municipal Tax Code Commission," said Forgia. "You won’t
find us on the front page, but we’re an important part of the revenue
structure for Arizona’s cities."
The commission’s membership is
comprised of the Director of the Department of Revenue (or an appointed
representative) and nine other members who are mayors or members of governing
bodies of cities or town that have adopted the model city tax code. The
commission’s exclusive responsibility is to comment on language presented by
any governing entity or taxpayer for the purpose of supporting, modifying or
exempting taxable commodities under the model city tax code.
