Electronics in trash canThe City of Peoria is committed to the proper disposal and recycling of our citizen's waste.  This is executed through the City's curbside trash and recycling service and regularly scheduled household hazardous and electronic waste collection events.  Do your part and ensure that your practicing proper recycling and disposing of your potentially hazardous materials correctly.

Dry Waste Recycling Event!

The City of Peoria is holding a special Dry Waste Recycling Event --

Residents can recycle the 'junk' just sitting around the house.

Saturday October 11th from 8 a.m. to noon

at Lowe's on the NE corner of Lake Pleaseant Parkway and Happy Valley Road.

You may bring the following items for recycling:

  • Electronics -- computers, monitors, lap tops, radios, speakers, printers, but NO CRT MONITORS
  • Appliances -- refrigerators, microwaves. dishwashers, stoves, water heaters
  • Tires -- from passenger vehicles, NO TRACTOR TIRES
  • Propane tanks -- EMPTY ONLY
  • Textiles -- clothing, bedding, shoes
  • PAPER SHREDDING! -- household residential only

NO LIQUIDS OF ANY TYPE  -- NO COMMERCIAL MATERIALS

  • How to Recycle E-Waste

Most electronic waste can be recycled at one of the City's regularly scheduled household hazardous waste collection events.  The events are offered three times per calendar year in northern and southern Peoria.  Click HERE to visit the houshold hazardous waste web page for more information.

In between regularly schedule household hazardous waste collection events Peoria citizens can bring their electronic recyclables to the Glendale landfill free of charge. 

Glendale is now providing Peoria residents a permanent drop-off location for electronics recycling. The electronics recycling (E-Waste) program offers a convenient way to recycle unwanted electronic items safely and responsibly.  The E-Waste drop-off area is located at the Glendale Landfill. Peoria residents can bring both working and non-working electronic items to the landfill anytime during regular operating hours, and the program is free of charge.

Many smaller electronic waste items (batteries, cell phones, light bulbs, etc.) can be brought to local stores for collection and distribution to proper recycling facilities.  For a list of acceptable locations visit our Additional Resources link by clicking HERE.
