North Peoria Traffic Study
The purpose of the North Peoria Traffic Study (NPTS) is to identify multimodal transportation needs within the area of Union Hills Drive on the south, Westwing Parkway on the north, 67th Avenue on the east, and 107th Avenue on the west (view map). A larger regional area that includes State Route (SR) Loop (L) 303 to the north and west, SR 101L to the south and east, and Interstate 17 (I-17) to the east are considered in the study for their regional travel influences.
Several significant transportation projects were recently completed in the area including Happy Valley Road, Lake Pleasant Parkway, and the Beardsley Road connection to Loop 101. With the addition of these system improvements, the NPTS will look at how traffic moves within the study area. The study will then look at future land use, socioeconomic, and traffic data to identify needed improvements in the current transportation system. The final report will include a recommended plan of short- and long-term transportation improvements for the study area that will be included in the city’s Capital Improvement Plan.
