The City of Peoria Aquatics Department will be hiring the following position for the 2013 Aquatics season:

Lifeguard I

*All applicants must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications as of May 18, 2013. 

Courses are offered throughout the valley; please see below for classes offered through City of Peoria (please note that the certifications must be American Red Cross).  Completion of the Junior Lifeguard program and/or City of Peoria courses does not guarantee employment with the City. 

How to Apply -

Step 1 - Complete American Red Cross required training courses.
Step 2 - Complete application online www.peoriaaz.gov/jobs/.  Applications must be completed before water testing:
Applications received by March 10, 2013 may water test on either date.
Applications received after March 10, 2013 and before May 12, 2013 must water test on May 18, 2013.
Applications will be accepted between January 10, 2013 and May 12, 2013.  No late applications will be accepted.  Certifications must be current as of your water test date. 
Step 3 - All applicants must attend one of the City of Peoria Water Test and Interview Process:
               Date #1:  Saturday, March 16, 2013, Sunrise Pool - 21321 N. 86th Dr., 8:00am-10:00am
               Date #2:  Saturday, May 18, 2013, Sunrise Pool - 21321 N. 86th Dr., 8:00am-10:00am
All applicants must bring:  Current American Red Cross certifications, Government issued photo ID (high school ID's ok), and suit and towel.
Step 4 - Candidates will be notified if selected for hire by 2:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2013.  You must bring Social Security card and Government issued photo ID to a mandatory paperwork meeting at 4:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Development & Community Services Building - 9875 N. 85th Ave. if selected. 

CPR & Water Rescue Skills Practice - This optional course is for those wishing to re-fresh their CPR and water rescue skills prior to the water test.  Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and assist with skills.  Participants must have already completed their certification courses prior to attending the practice. 
$20 residents/ $26 non-residents.

Lifeguard Training
- Successful completion of the course includes certifications in Lifeguard Training/First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Lifeguard, Oxygen Administration and Bloodborne Pathogens.  Participants must be 15 years old by the end of the class and be able to swim freestyle/breaststroke for 300 yards and retrieve a 10 pound brick from the bottom of the pool on the first day.  Students must be prepared to do in-water and out of water activities on each day. 
 $120 residents / $150 non-residents (includes all books and supplies).
