Contemporary Watercolorists featured
In new West Valley Art Museum exhibit

Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona juried exhibition will open September 28 at Peoria City Hall Art Gallery in collaboration with West Valley Art Museum.

A public reception will be held on Thursday October 1, from 4 to 6 pm when winners in this juried show will be announced. The exhibition continues through November 12.

Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona (CWA) began in 1969, formed by a group of professional art teachers and accomplished artists who met first to paint together then critique their paintings. The works of this group are edgier, more mysterious and challenging than the average watercolor show. While many in the group work in the traditional transparent watercolor medium, many have moved into materials and techniques reflecting new and experimental approaches to water media painting.  The first group exhibition was held in 1972. Membership is held to 40 artists and the purpose of the organization is to motivate artist members toward the highest level of achievement they can attain.

The Peoria City Hall Art Gallery, operated by West Valley Art Museum, at 8401 W. Monroe St., Peoria, is open, free to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 10 am to 4pm and Thursdays from noon to 6 pm.
