Accreditation

Peoria Fire Department is one of 148 agencies to receive Internationally Accredited Agency status with CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE). The entire process was supported by the City Manager’s Office and led by Acting Fire Chief Stacy Irvine. Labor management, crews and clerical staff were also integral to the department’s success. The department received a unanimous vote for Accreditation and received an exemplary rating at the Annual Commission Meeting in Chicago. CFAI Chairman Ernst Piercy said Peoria has set the bar against which other fire departments will be measured. Peoria’s Self-Assessment Manual will be used by CFAI as an example for other departments seeking accreditation.
