Water Rate Information 

The City of Peoria has two charges for water: a base charge and a volume charge.

Base Charge:  A fixed monthly charge based on the size of your water meter.   

Volume Charge:  A variable monthly charge based on the number of gallons of water used in the month. 

Water Rate Consumption Categories:

Below are the water rate categories that the City of Peoria charges for consumption.  For an expanded definition of the category, and the water base and volume charges, please click on the category title below.

Residential:    The residential water category applies to dwelling units served by an individual water meter in which only a single family usually resides.  This category is the most commonly charged category in the City of Peoria.   

Multi-Residential:    The multi-residential water category applies when more than one dwelling unit is served be a single master meter.   

Commercial/Industrial:    The commercial/industrial category applies to units wherein persons or families do not normally reside.   

Residential Care:    The residential care category applies when more than one dwelling unit used for personal care assistance is served by a single master meter.   

Agricultural:    The agricultural category applies to areas where the practice of growing crops or producing other agricultural products is done on land comprising at least two continuous acres.   

Landscape:    The landscape category applies to any open area unoccupied except for landscaping served with an irrigation system.  The area served by the  water meter must not have any drainage into the sewer system.

Non-potable:    Non-potable water is untreated well water that does not meet drinking water quality standards.  It is only suitable for irrigating large turf areas, filling lakes, and other non-consumption purposes.

Reclaimed:    Reclaimed water is water taken from a wastewater (sewer or sewage system) stream and purified to a level suitable for further use.  Reclaimed water is treated to a quality suitable for non-potable applications such as landscape irrigation, decorative water features, and non-food crops. .
