POLICE OFFICER (Lateral)

The City
of Peoria is seeking qualified applicants for the position
of Police Officer. Peoria Police Officers are highly
skilled professionals who are committed to delivering
quality police service to the community. They are dedicated
to enhancing the quality of life in Peoria by working in
partnership with the members of the community to protect
life and property. Peoria Police Officers are trained to
enforce federal, state, and local laws in criminal
investigations, patrol procedures and traffic enforcement.

Salary
Range:
$20.11 – $28.30 hourly base pay. Starting salary for
lateral applicants is based on the following criteria;
training, skills, and experience. The salary will be
determined by the Chief of Police when the final job offer
is extended to the applicant.
Job Duties:
Police
officers are responsible for performing law enforcement and
crime prevention work; patrolling an assigned area for the
prevention of crime and maintaining law and order;
performing investigative work and other special assignments;
and performing a variety of technical law enforcement
tasks.
.Lateral
Police Officer Applicants:
Lateral
applications are accepted on an on-going basis. In order
to be considered for a lateral position, applicants must be
AZPOST Certified, must have completed a twelve-month
probation with their current agency, and still be employed
with that agency. Preference is given to lateral applicants
who have a minimum of two years of patrol experience.
Lateral applicants are exempt from the written and physical
testing portion of the recruitment process.
