The first 250 children that arrive will have a chance to win raffle prizes and Chick-fil-A has donated 400 kids’ meal coupons. The kids and other dignitaries will witness a mock drowning demonstration by the Peoria Fire Department, Southwest Ambulance, and Peoria lifeguards. The rubber ducks will be floating in the pool, so that a firefighter can enter the water via a water slide to pick out the winning ducks, with the grand prize winner receiving an iPod! After the “duck drop” the kids will begin swimming and Southwest Ambulance will present a check for $6500 to the Peoria Parks and Recreation Department to provide free swim lessons.
