For Immediate Release Kimberly Drabik 623-773-7934 office 623-773-7294 fax kimberly.drabik@peoriaaz.gov The Institution of Fire Engineers Announces Deputy Fire Chief Larry Rooney as a New Member January 3, 2008 -- Peoria, AZ – The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), with headquarters in the United Kingdom, and its subsidiary, the United States of America Branch announce that Deputy Fire Chief Larry Rooney has been accepted into membership in the international fire engineering organization. Deputy Fire Chief Rooney met stringent admission requirements and criteria including academic qualifications, professional qualifications and fire service qualifications to qualify for membership. He joins more than 10,000 members worldwide in 23 countries who promote the study and development of fire the engineering discipline. There are six grades of membership to aspire with Student (1) being the entry level and Fellow (6) being the most advanced level. Each level in between denotes a higher degree of qualification. Deputy Chief Rooney qualified at the Member (MIFireE) level, which is the fifth category level. The Institution’s objective is to promote, encourage and improve the science and practice of Fire Extinction, Fire Prevention and Fire Engineering and to implement useful ideas in science and practice for the benefit of the community. The US Branch objective is National in Service and International in Scope. It provides members with access to the global fire and engineering community through professional seminars, conferences and networking with peers from around the world to improve their personal and professional stature, skills, knowledge and competencies.
