US60 (Grand Avenue)
Loop 101 to
McDowell Road
Design
Concept Report and Environmental Study
Project Description
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), in conjunction
with its City partners (Peoria, Glendale and Phoenix) and the
Federal Highway Administration, has initiated a Design Concept
Report and Environmental Study to evaluate and recommend potential
future improvements to US60 (Grand Avenue) between Loop 101 (Agua
Fria Freeway) and McDowell Road. Projects under consideration
are consistent with the 20-year Regional Transportation Plan (RTP)
for Maricopa County and the Grand Avenue Major Investment Study
(MIS), SR 101L to McDowell Road, Phase II Report, published in
February 2006 by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG).
The study is evaluating the
following types of improvements on US60 (Grand Avenue) in the City
of Peoria for possible future implementation:
-
Pedestrian lighting on the
non-railroad side
-
Landscaping in medians that are
at least 10-feet wide
-
Landscaping along both sides of
Grand Avenue
-
Screen wall or decorative
fencing on railroad side
-
Moving overhead utilities to
underground
-
New street lighting
