Beardsley Connection to Loop 101

Learn how the Beardsley Connection will move traffic on our animated map

Project Description
The Beardsley Road Extension project will provide additional access to the Loop 101 from the northern portion of the City of Peoria and the northwest valley. This will be accomplished by extending Beardsley Road from 81st Avenue across the New River via a bridge to a one-way frontage road, which starts at the 75th Avenue traffic interchange and terminates at the Union Hills Drive interchange. A bridge over Loop 101 north of Union Hills Drive will allow frontage road traffic to access the northbound lanes of Loop 101 without having to go through the signalized interchange at Union Hills Drive.

Public Open House Briefing
The City of Peoria, City of Glendale and Arizona Department of Transportation will be conducting two open house briefings on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sunrise Mountain High School and on June 3, 2008 at the Community Church of Joy. Project Status
The City's design consultant submitted the final design concept report and 30 percent plans in July 2006. Shortly after these plans were submitted, City engineers participated in a three-day value engineering session with a separate engineering firm to evaluate the plans and discuss additional final design recommendations. The City of Peoria in conjunction with the City of Glendale and ADOT are currently completing designs for Phase I and Phase II as well as 83rd Avenue Median and the Beardsley Trailhead.  The City is also working to acquire the necessary right of way for the project. Funding for construction is available in fiscal years 2008 and 2009.  The anticipated construction start date is winter 2008.

Project Phasing and CMAR Selection Information
